BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
The Madhya Kolkata District Women’s Congress and West Bengal INTUC Seva Dal organized a unique protest on Friday near the Lady Victoria Dufferin Hospital in the College Street area. To symbolize the government's failed economic and energy policies, protesters engaged in an innovative "Jumla Shedho" (boiling false promises) cooking demonstration using alternative fuel. The protestors were seen cooking two bottle-gourds (lauki) with PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah's name and sketch on them. Along with it, they put the "false promises cutouts" as ingredients.
Congress leaders launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of prioritizing foreign relations and "American imperialism" over the needs of Indian citizens. They alleged that the Prime Minister's reliance on "Jumlas" (false promises) has led to an artificial scarcity of cooking gas and fuel, forcing the common man into a state of financial distress.
The timing of the protest is significant as it coincides with reports of the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to the Brigade Parade Ground. Seva Dal members asserted that the visit would be a failure, as people are now focused on real issues like black marketing and the non-availability of gas cylinders rather than political speeches. They demanded an immediate shift in policy to restore the domestic fuel supply and provide relief to the middle and lower-income families of Bengal.
